To kick off my summer playlist, I’d like to present an unpopular opinion. I wish that people would stop bashing SM just because certain artistes have chosen to leave the company. The information we see and get can be distorted by the media, the fans, even the artistes themselves. Nowadays, almost every SM video has comments complaining that SM should treat their artistes better instead of pocketing all the money etc… But do we really know where all the money goes and comes from… On one hand, perhaps some of the artistes should be paid more, on the other hand, do we really know the cost of producing idols in just preparing them for debut, an album, promotions and daily living? I know that majority of the people who hate SM do because they support Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu. We will never, ever know the real reason as to why they left the company. It is definitely not as simple as disputes due to money or schedules. Many people might probably disagree, but to me, for Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu (and other artistes who have left SM), SM was their dream. SM gave them the lives they never would have had. Their own efforts might have played a large role but they would never have made it if they were in a different company. I don’t know if the three of them might deny it, but in my opinion, without SM, they would never have become who they are today. We keep bashing the strict regimes and routines (as portrayed by the media) SM had for our five boys, but without those, could they really have become the stars they are today? I love all Junsu, Yoochun, Jaejoong, Changmin and Yunho so much, and I respect the former three’s decisions to leave the company, but I will never solely blame SM for causing this rift. We really don’t know what goes on behind the scenes (and will probably never find out), and I have no problems with how SM treats their artistes right now. This has been a long comment and I hope that in hating on SM, we can all be thankful to them for raising our favourite groups and helping them become the people they are today. You are free to disagree with me but this is only my opinion.
